Artee Young

bio_young_sm.jpg Artee Young is a senior member of the faculty at The Evergreen State College - Tacoma Campus. In addition to Evergreen, Dr. Young has also taught at Southern University, Indiana University and the University of Washington. Over the past 25 years, she has designed and taught courses in Law, Public Policy, Theatre and Literature. Recently, she turned her attention to developing curricula in Bioethics for upper division undergraduate students. In the current year, she designed and taught Bioethics and Law and Risky Business: Life Experiences in Ethics and Law. In addition to college teaching, since 1989, Dr. Young has practiced law, and for two years of that time, was a judicial clerk for two justices of the Washington State Supreme Court.

She has been a consultant to the United States Forest Service specializing in Title VII, particularly prevention of sexual harassment in the workplace. She has also served on review panels for the National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities, National Institutes of Health, and is a member of the Western Institutional Review Board.

Dr. Young is a frequent keynote speaker and conference participant. She has authored papers and articles and presented on diverse issues in the areas of education and public policy, teaching and learning, workplace ethics and civil rights. She currently serves as President of the St. Edward Parish Council and as a volunteer for the NAACP's Academic, Cultural, Technological, Scientific Olympics for youth. She earned her Ph.D. at the University of Michigan, her J.D. at Seattle University School of Law, her M.A. from Eastern Michigan University, and her B.A. (cum laude) from Southern University (Louisiana).
